So Much For Wrapping 'Em Up Nicely

Christmas Day is a Day of Treats as the kiddos get to open their presents! Well "open" is a civilized way of putting it as we all know. Kids don't put on masks; if they want something they'll have their hands on it till they claim title to it . ☺☻☺☻☺☻ Thank you Santa Clauses for the numerous books received - mommy is more excited over it than the boys!

I'm Going to School!

Jae's reaching a big milestone - it's his first big test and it's all about being independant - away from Papa, Mommy and Ah Ma. Abeit having faith in lil Jae, Papa and Mommy are still a bundle of nerves when we imagine the various scenarios that could develop. I say, parents have too good of an imagination sometimes. In Papa's own words, we find ourselves "having cold feet". 
Parents with kiddos in Primary School already will probably laugh at our nervousness, but there is always a first, and enrolling our boy into a childcare away from the people he knows very well falls into this category. When we fetched him from the centre, we felt like our toddler has grown up as he presented himself calm and steady. Ah, but this is just Day One, we will continue to pray that Jae enjoys himself in school and makes friends fairly soon.

Fold and Stack 'Em Up!

  Moving away from the conventional ang pow blossoms (ang pow packets are so much more expensive), how about some paper flower blossoms for Chinese New Year? For a $2 packet of origami paper, I can make all three below. The price to pay? Time and lotsa patience.   1. Passion flower ball

There's Something Magical About Christmas

The handcrafting mood has moved on to Christmas decoration, now that I've completed the handmade cards.
I'm not sure why but Christmas is a time where I'll put in more effort to either dress myself, or dress up my abode. It's as if fairy dust was sprinkled over my house, and there must be a magical twinkle in every corner. I have to say I was so disappointed not to be able to get my hands on the snowflake cut-out stamp that was sold out in Papermarket, my place would have been converted into a Christmas wonderland.
Nevertheless, paper origami decoration wins over an actual Christmas tree for some obvious reasons:
1. Everybody loves putting up the Christmas tree but NOBODY likes to take it down afterwards. 2. Paper origami decorations can simply be removed and thrown away. 3. I don't have to watch over the pine tree like a hawk from the curious hands of my young ones - a toddler and a crawler.

Snip and Snap Away

Supermom is in the mood (using the time when the world and her babies sleep) for some handcrafting this year. Finally able to put the materials I've amassed into use! I'm not talented in this area but I don't think I suck at it. After 3 hours and having to survive on 3 hours' of sleep the next day, I'm pretty happy with the result - but I don't think I'm up for too much handiwork - can't handle the sleep deprivation. Not so supermom after all. 

What We Love About Christmas : Giving!

Last year this time, I was caught with a newborn baby and had no time to get delightful Christmas gifts. Thankfully a friend of mine had given a shout out of some toy fair going on, in September if I didn't remember wrongly, and I had gotten presents in advance. All I had to do was run out to get some gift wrappers. But armed with a barely two-month-old, I was hardly in the mood for Christmas.
This year, I decided that things are going to be different - Christmas is my favourite holiday - I'm not going to be caught in the last-minute-mad-rush-to-get-some-gifts among throngs of equally hectic shoppers. I don't get a kick out of dashing around to buy presents, I don't enjoy such adrenaline rush, no thank you. So I started preparing early so that I can just sit back and enjoy the festivities with my loved ones during Christmas. Here, I have completed 70% of wrapping the Christmas presents I'm gonna dish out. That makes for a sense of accomplishment in me, and you can say I'm a control freak. I enjoy doing things when I'm not rushed, that's just me when I can have the choice. If I have some extra time on my hands, I'll get going with some handmade cards as well!

And Jovan is One!

In the twinking of an eye, my precious Jovan has turned one!
Just a week before his birthday, Jovan ran a pretty high fever for 7 consecutive days. It was then that George and I decided to call off the birthday party. We could have gone ahead, giving Jovan a few days' buffer but no, we wanted to let our boy recover thoroughly since his immunity is down. After all, first birthdays are more memorable for the parents than the child, and a cosy family celebration will mean more to the star than a full scale party. So we have no regrets. So long the boy's happy.
