Babies Are No Pushovers

These days, lil Jaeden knows who he can bully and who he can't mess with.

A typical scenario at the food court where mommy and papa have to put him in a stroller, together with ah ma.

J: Amuses himself with looking at his surrounding. Gets bored and whine.

J: Mommy passes a toy. Fiddle with it briefly, gets bored and whine louder.

J: Gives a restless expression, and whine dramatically, coupled with frowning face and pitiful eyes.

Ah Ma: Attempts to unclip J from the stroller, but was stopped by papa.  

J continues whining, arching his body impatiently.

Ah Ma: Baby wants to sleep, let me pat him.

P: No, he won't sleep when he's outside. He wants to be carried. Let him get used to sitting in the stroller.

Ah Ma: Exasperated look.
J serves a double portion of his whining/crying/looks pitiful act.

Ah Ma: 2nd attempt to free J, this time stopped by mommy and J throws a fuss.

Papa relented and allowed ah ma to carry J. J emerges triumphant, and all sounds were muted almost immediately.

Much later, when mommy and papa have parted ways from ah ma, lil J quietly sits in his stroller entertaining himself with his fingers. He sure knows who's the bosses and that mommy and papa won't fall for this act so easily.

Jae's Cousin Aaric

Jae has this little cousin Aaric who gets more interesting as the day goes by; I am often amused by his wide selection of antics.

When nobody's giving him the munchies he wants...he goes for his dad's arm and sleeve. 

Next he reaches out for the food, but my sis refuses to be outsmarted - and is seconds quicker 

After this I hear my boy crying for my attention, and this is what is he gave me when I turn the camera to him

Desserts Are For Babies Too

These days, after being freed from mittens, Jaeden started having dessert like us all.
There are different schools of thought about finger/thumb sucking but my opinion is that it is part of babies' discovery process of their limbs. I'd rather that he can comfort himself with fist-sucking than having to put the pacifier back in his mouth repeated times through the night.

You're Really An Angel ...

Jaeden is now 12 weeks 2 days old. I look back at my past few weeks with him and thank God that Jae is indeed a blessing to me and the hubby. The past few weeks of maternity leave had been easy. Lil' Jae is such an easy baby, he practically sleeps most of the mornings till about 1pm, inclusive of waking for feeds. He smiles a lot whenever he's awake and someone tries to "talk" to him. He fusses very little when he is tired, so long as you grasp the right signals and give him a few pats, he hushes in no time.

Frankly, the tiredness of being on maternity comes from taking care of Jae all by myself, which includes the laundry, the dishes, some house-cleaning, preparing my meals etc. I believe most mums have travelled this road before. Thus it truly brings joy to see my boy so manageable. Mommy really appreciate Jaeden for being such an adaptable baby.

 

Jaeden just displayed another sign of adaptability; he finally is able to sleep inside the stroller! Previously he'll fuss to be carried after a short while of lying in the stroller. Being more aware of his surroundings now, he happily absorbs the novelty of the environment till he drifts off to dreamland.

 

Jaeden boy, do you know that you have such an award-winning smile and you are so easy to take care of, that Mommy and Papa find no reason not to dote on you.

Oh How You've Grown!

Was wondering why does my back ache more and more these days, and concluded that the suspect is my boy. I did the "carry Jaeden and weigh" minus "my weight" stunt and was pleasantly stunned to find Jaeden weighs 5.9kg now coming to 12 weeks! And I had just bought S-sized Giant diapers to try out on the boy, which indicates for babies less than 6kg. I'd better let him use it first!
